The Poona Music Society in association with the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre at the Balassi Institute, New Delhi, present the Kodály Quartet with Balázs Fülei (piano), Attila Falvay and Erika Tóth (violin), János Fejérvári (viola) and György Éder (cello). They will be performing pieces by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, among others.

Contemporary Dance
Hrishikesh’s Center for Contemporary Dance along with Max Mueller Bhavan has organised the 6th edition of the Prayatna Film and Dance Festival, 2014. The festival is a celebration of contemporary dance form in India. Hrishikesh Pawar, the festival director, is an acclaimed Kathak and contemporary dancer. The festival will showcase the talents of various selected artists of the institute.

Marathi Baanaa
Marathi Bana, conceptualized as a ’70mm Marathi programme’, and performed by over 125 artists, it uniquely expresses true qualities of Marathi Manoos (man), his work culture, sheer joy of living, etc., in short, it puts forth the Journey of the Culture of Maharashtra. Meant to showcase folk art from across the state, it is well packaged and pitched with the audience in mind. Pulsating to the energy of folk dances and themes, it includes the farmers` lives, the tribal thakars`stories, bhakti sangeet, lavani, tamasha, celebration of various festivals, Koli dance, Burgunda (common sense passed on verbally from one generation to the next), as well as rituals like mangalagaur, gondhal and jogwa. Marathi Bana always leaves the audience spellbound with the unbelievably rich treasure of Marathi culture.

Aashadhatil Ek Divas
Centered on Kalidas’ life, this is a three-act play showing the protagonist’s romantic involvement with Mallika. On Kalidas’ journey to achieve greatness he marries another sophisticated woman, Priyangumanjari, leaving Mallika heart-broken. The story moves through different tones, highlighting their relationship while portraying the personal price that both Kalidas and Mallika pay for his decision to achieve greatness.
