For years, radio was the go-to choice for Indian entertainment. Along the way, TV took over and as the internet grew, digital platforms like OTT and video-led offerings proliferated to completely take over our entertainment choices. Over the last few years, though, there has been a quiet growth in the audio space. And digital has had a large role to play here as well. Welcome to Podcasting.

Storytelling is nothing new for Indians. Since millennia we have been listening to stories – it’s been one way our ancient scriptures have been passed down after all. In the last 5 years, podcasting in India has grown by leaps and bounds. While it has been around for over a decade and a half abroad, it took time to take firm footing in India.

If one tries to understand why, it’s an ecosystem issues – creators, distributors, advertisers and of course, the audience. It all needs to come together to create the perfect storm. And we’re getting there. Without boring you with too much analytical data and what has been happening in podcasting these past few years, suffice it to say that the growth has been explosive.
