A World Heart Day Special
Remember the feeling when the Dhol Tasha Pathak is performing during Ganpati Visarjan at Laxmi Road? The throbbing heart beats, the excitement, the stampede of people around; it has a very special place in our hearts right?
Ever imagined the opposite? Throbbing pain, high pulse and walls closing in? People around us, in our community, are being faced with issues like cardiovascular disease. We, the youth, have to be with them, hand in hand because believe me if the youth stands up for something, its heard, heard in large waves, and we make an impact.
What is World Heart Day?
The World Heart Federation (WHF) commemorates the 29th of September as World Heart Day to create awareness amongst people about cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including heart diseases and strokes since it is the leading cause of cause of death seen every year.
How can we spread smiles and show our support?
We can start by learning about CVD, its prevention, symptoms, and immediate care. Especially during the current pandemic, it is essential to take care of ourselves since other lifestyle diseases (like diabetes hypertension, etc.) can make one more susceptible to the virus. There are various campaign updates available on the official website of the WHF.
Our city has always been a tight knit community with our strength being the people. Today, if we can help someone in need with the right information, knowledge and tell them that we care, their smile and gratitude will be the most memorable thing of all.
