Pune’s Yummiest Chaat Joints

Chaat! The very word sends your tastebuds into overdrive. It’s sweet, tangy, spicy, cold and hot all into one. Most chaat dishes have originated in Uttar Pradesh; Bhel and Sev puri have their birth place in Mumbai. But not all offer the tantalising experience at a very pocket-friendly price. Let’s list a few of the best chaat places in town, shall we?

Kalyan Bhel

This is one of the oldest Bhel houses in our city and they have seven locations to serve you, with a few Tripadvisor awards to their credit. The pani puri is always chilled and the bhel is very well portioned for one hungry individual. They also sell Kulfi here, which seems to be a hit. Do try the Matki Bhel for a different taste experience.

Locations: Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Bibvewadi, Law College Road, Kothrud, Baner, Hinjewadi

Radhika Bhel

First off, don’t try and look for this place on Google Maps or Zomato. Ask your way around Mandai and anyone there will direct you to this establishment. The amazing bhel and SPDP are a must try. Don’t expect much in terms of ambience and comfort, but then again, a chaat place is known for its food and not for the ambience.

Location: Jondhale Chowk, Mandai.

Chaat Bazaar

A mix of Delhi and Mumbai chaat styles, this place has a very decent menu besides the regular chaat fare. Must haves here are the Raj Kachori and Lacha Tokri Chaat. Chilled, yummy and very filling. They are pretty new compared to the others on our list, but don’t let that hold you back. Their tava pulao, Pav bhaji and parathas are also well prepared.

Locations: Viman Nagar, FC Road, Maggarpatta, Hinjewadi.

Ganesh Bhel

Quick service, great food, helpful staff, this place checks all the right boxes. With a decent number of locations in the city, this place is known for its Ragda Pattice and Mumbai Sev Puri. They make their Pani Puri with Bisleri water and that’s a relief to the doubtful stomach. They might charge you a little more than the average haath gaadi wala but the price is justified.

Locations: Karve Nagar, Kothrud, B.T. Kawade Road, Aundh, Baner, Bavdan, Bhosri and counting.

Drooling yet? Sure you are. These chaat places have taken street food and pushed it into four walls, with that comes hygiene, continuity and not to mention consistency in taste and quality. Time to run out and get some chaat folks!
