Great news, Pune! PMC has decided to set up Children’s Libraries in six civic gardens in the city. Corporator Jyotsana Ekbote said that kids these days are getting addicted to video games and browsing on the Internet, so public libraries are a great idea to get them off their phones.

The parks that will get libraries are Sambhaji on JM Road, Murkute Garden in Baner, Sant Rohidas Garden in Bhavani Peth, Shahu Garden in Somwaar Peth, Sinhagad Vikas Garden in Vadgaon Budruk and Hutatma Smarak in Phule Nagar.

According to the Chief Garden Superintendent, Ashok Ghorpade, there are a total of 199 civic parks in Pune city, none of which presently have a library in them.

We simply love the idea of kids’ libraries in the city; start them young, right?! Don’t forget to tag us in your pictures when you come across these libraries!
