Pune Housing Societies Convert Empty Flats into Isolation Spaces

283

Some gated societies in Pune have started turning vacant apartments into isolation spaces for members who have recently been discharged, or are either mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic with Covid-19.

As per authorities, such spaces are not to be used for the elderly or children below the age of 10, pregnant women and new mothers.

Pune’s collector, Mr. Naval Kishore Ram and commissioner of co-op housing societies, Mr. Anil Kawade, fully welcome and support this development, and are happy about the understanding shown by citizens.

As long as the isolation space, be it a vacant apartment or a society club house, is set up according to local health authority norms, the city administration is all for the decision taken by residents.

After months of hearing news about societies shunning patients, even those who have been cleared of the illness and discharged, this is a positive development!
