Earlier this week, the city’s district administration confirmed that they have no plans to extend the ongoing lockdown in Pune, which started on July 14.

City district collector, Mr. Naval Kishore Ram recently said in a press conference that some restrictions will be put in place after July 23 to curb the spread of Covid-19.

As we approach the end of the strict 10-day lockdown, Pune will receive new guidelines as to what the new rules will be. The administration is looking into measures that can be adopted to stop overcrowding, especially on weekends. The same goes for large gatherings like weddings and similar ceremonies.

The lockdown was put in place to break the virus chain, increase testing and arrange for more beds in the city.

The Federation of Trade Association in Pune (FTAP) had sent a letter to the city administration, warning them of strong protests if the current restrictions are extended. They are asking for shops to be allowed to open again from 10 am to 8 pm, at least on weekdays.

Stay tuned for the new guidelines!
