Leaving a Mark!
Punekars came in large numbers to show their support for Payal Katariya – the new author in town. All of 21 years of age she launched her first novel titled ‘The Last Note’ on November 9 at the Crossword Book Store in Amanora Town Centre.
Award winning producer Nilesh Navalakha who was accompanied by his wife was the Chief guest at the launch.
“I can express myself best through my writings,” says the young author whose 156 page fiction novel is a romantic story that touches your soul. Blending prose with poetry, Payal adopts a unique style of story-telling accompanying every situation with a poetry written by her.
‘Sometimes life’s all about living your perfect dream’ is the tag line of her novel. Looks like Payal is certainly living her dream. She has received a lot of positive feedback about her book which she finds very inspiring. “You can call me an accidental writer”, says the author who is currently pursuing law from the Deccan Education Society (DES) Law college. Payal who lost her father at a young age never had the opportunity to bid farewell to him as she was away from home studying. That guilt stayed on with her and she found solace in writing.
Naming the protagonist after herself, she says that the character Payal bears a lot of resemblance to herself. Published by Leadstart Publishing Private limited, the novel is available at all Crossword outlets across the country for Rs 125. Creativity comes naturally to this talented young girl who is also an artist and enjoys writing songs in her free time. She has represented the State in football, hockey and carrom while pursuing her literature degree from Nowrosjee Wadia College.
“I had a very laid -back attitude towards life,” confesses Payal adding that through the launch of her novel she was finally able to prove to herself that she was capable of doing something which she can be proud of. Payal attends college by day and does all her writing late at night.
“Life is an ongoing struggle,” says the young author, “sometimes it is the pain and suffering that changes you and makes you capable of things you never thought possible”.
Payal is now writing her second novel exploring the theme of the simplicity of life and daily struggles.
