Food Review: Thai House
Located between a few local shops, the Thai House, is tiny little restaurant serving delicious Thai cuisine. This place is really difficult to get noticed. But once you reach the place, you will know it is perfect for what it aims at offering – authentic Thai food!
Get a feel of Bangkok at Thai House, a simple and dimly lit eatery with about half a dozen wooden tables and chairs. The flavours at Thai House will remind you of a Bangkok lunch full of the reassuring aromas of home-style Thai food.
It serves a great Thai food and also provides variety in choices for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. The menu here has a variety of different and exciting names. The aroma itself will make you hungry. Right from the Soup to Main course, everything has its unique tastes which contributes to the entire experience. The Noodles they serve here are flat noodles unlike the regular ones in so called Thai and Chinese outlets. All the dishes are served in unique cutlery. To keep the curries warm for the customers, they keep the curries on a small fire.
Golden Wings (nothing short of perfect. They had just the right amount of tangyness complemented with hot spice.)
Som Tum Tood – crispy veggies in a spicy lime dressing (an exotic blend of spice and sour, a perfect appetizer)
Green Curry (a popular dish, authentic in its flavours)
Garlic Fried Rice (recommended by the Chef, a great change from the usual rice)
Spicy Chicken Noodles (slightly more spicy than we anticipated)
You might even take help of the owner who’s very prompt in making choices. For the desserts do try the Thai House’s special Ice cream. It is an ice cream with deep fried bread and icing sugar sprinkled on top. Not very sweet.
The quantity that they provide is good enough to completely fill two people with one dish! The presentation of the food is very nice. It is not something which will strike but is neatly enough done. All in all the food is very nicely done and the taste is just exceptional.
Budget Meter: Decently priced for an authentic Thai food. Dinner for two will fetch around Rs. 600, excluding desserts.[divider ]Service[/divider]
One thing about this place which strikes the most is the service. The staff is very polite and helpful, who suggest food by understanding our likes and dislikes and the kind of food we would like to have. They tried to understand our taste and then suggested us few dishes. The service is quick and prompt.
It is the food that really lures you in here. If you have an inclination for this cuisine, a visit is a must. No frills, authentic homemade Thai food which is absolutely delicious.
