Food Review: Curry Leaves
Located on Baner-Pashan Link road, Curry leaves is a good example of the saying ‘Good things come in small packages’. In any restaurant it is food that tops all priority lists! For this place, there is only one word that justifies the food served here is , ‘Authentic’.

The place is a small joint on the ground floor in the commercial complex Regent Plaza. It is strikingly clean and gives a feel of a café. The place is done in the shades of bright green and yellow which makes the place more welcoming. Seating is available outside and inside. The outside seating is preferable as it is more open and pleasant.
Their menu says ‘There is more to our food than coconut. Much More…’ and much before that their entrance reads ‘Best eaten With Hands’! The aroma from the kitchen is very inviting. This whole atmosphere really makes one want to taste unique Keralite food. So we tried a few dishes and were very impressed with the flavours! With so much variety, one is confused what one should eat and what not to eat. We had:
Chicken Varutharchathu: A very traditional Kerala curry made with coconut, onions, pepper and whole red chillies. A taste and aroma that you get only with spices and not just chillies.
Meen Pollichathu: Good (the masala does not overpower the delicate flavours of Surmai which was quite fresh)
Puttu: An interesting mix of grated coconut and broken rice powder baked in a special vessel. Eat it with sugar till it is hot and then finish off the remaining with any spicy curry.
Appams are PERFECT! Soft and Fluffy
Buttermilk: Typical Kerala styled buttermilk with spices and ginger crushed pieces. Tastes great
The portions have good quantity. The food is presented in a creative way which makes one immediately try what is placed in front. There are some typical Kerala snacks kept for sale near the counter, something to take home!
Service is prompt. Very polite, helpful and patient staff. So you need not worry if you don’t understand or cannot pronounce the traditional names, the staff will gladly pronounce and explain what the dish is.
Excellent food that leaves you with wanting more. One must definitely visit the place! It is easy on your wallet and wonderful for your appetite. Curry leaves clearly lives up to what they promise in their tagline “There is more to our food than coconut.”
