Among the league of young writers today, Durjoy Datta is a name that youngsters connect with the most. An engineer by profession, he quit his 9-to-5 job to pursue his passion for writing books.
The story of When Only Love Remains is pretty simple. It is about a struggling musician, Devrat who has been trying to make it big on the music scene for almost three to four years and is too scared to face failure. Although a few people in his circle admire him, he finally finds his first staunch supporter in a girl from Delhi. For a long time, this girl, Avanti, has been listening and following his music, which has kind of become her saviour in life. Avanti being Devrat’s ardent fan, had always wished and dreamed of meeting him in person. In her mind, she regularly pictured her first conversation with him. Then comes the night when they actually meet and instantly click with each other. What happens after they first meet? Will they continue meeting each other or just forget about each other just like meeting any other third person? If at all they continue meeting will destiny let them stay together or make them fall apart?
In this book, Durjoy has tried to bring out a kind of relationship, where you just need someone who can listen to you. In this case, it’s between a musician and his fan. The story starts with Avanti being obsessed with Devrat. When they finally meet, they both realise that they have their own ups and downs, baggage and how, despite their flaws, they make a perfect love story. There’s a tragedy in the end and how the lovers cope with the problems forms the crux of the story.
When Only Love Remains is a recommended read to all those who enjoy reading romantic fiction books. Durjoy Datta has nailed it again. It will make you smile, it will make you laugh and it will make you cry. But most of all, it will brew that romantic feeling that will make you fall in love all over again.
