Before the monsoon hits us hard, take a look at this list we’ve compiled, not just for a simple getaway, but also for one of the most enjoyable water sports- Kayaking! So, which one will you head to first?
Kundalika River | Kolad
Roughly 70 km from Pune, the majestic yet soothing river Kundalika will greet you. The white water kayaking facility here will have you bursting with excitement. You have the option of going solo if you’re trained enough, if not, there are always experts available who will take you through the river for a thrilling experience!
Koyna River, Tapola
Located 125 km from Pune, the beautiful and serene view of river Koyna will greet many a weary traveler. Nestled between cozy nature and small green mountains, kayaking at river Koyna is quite an experience. Wind surfing and scooter rides are also available!
A mere 60 km from Pune, Lavasa is quite a popular spot for most Punekars. Lavasa offers kayaking activities and lessons which are designed as per international standards, and if you’re a photographer and/or blogger, then this spot is perfect for your feed. Get, set, paddle!
Barvi Dam, Badlapur
A perfect extended weekend getaway, Barvi Dam is located 150 km from the city. Mostly known for camping and hiking activities, kayaking facilities are also available at this site. A picturesque location which has been kept in secrecy from most of the city residents; make sure you maintain the cleanliness and peace when you visit!
Another top-notch weekend getaway, you’ll arrive at Mandwa beach after a couple of hours of driving. Around 150 km from the city, kayaking at this spot is worth experiencing. You can either take coaching or guided tours, or if you are already experienced, then go all out with one of the kayaks available for renting. You can also spend the night in tents!
A cozy spot to experience kayaking, especially if you’re a newbie. Several adventure companies will help you with their guided rafting or coaching classes, but solo expeditions are always welcome here as well. The spot does get a bit crowded during holidays, though.
