Sugar is almost as addictive as any other drug on the planet, with the happy hormones they release. Admittedly, I am a sucker for a good dessert. Unbeknownst to many, in our evolving Pune, there are a few new and outrageous desserts that have emerged. A few of those sweet-toothed adventures are written below. Life is too short to not indulge in a sinful dessert pleasure!

The Chocolate Pani Puri

This insane dessert is served at The Hyatt Pune. It’s basically puris dipped in various chocolate coatings, including white, dark and milk. It is served with a side of fruit fillings, ice cream and cream. This actually tastes pretty darn good. Crunchy sweetness in every bite. Kudos to the head chef Shubhendu Roy’s creativity for coming up with this unique treat.

Tawa Ice Cream

A fairly new concept in the ice cream scene; at a place called Iceberg Fresh, located on main F.C. Road, pretty close to Roopali. Their USP is flattening fresh ice cream on a cold steel pan and then shaving it off into rolls. The must-try here is the guava ice cream with a spicy mix on top. It is made in front of you and takes a few minutes to prepare but anything good takes time.

Nutella Freak Shake

The name says it all. It’s huge, its chocolatey and it has everything in it besides the kitchen sink. This calorie bomb is served at The Greedy Man Pizzeria, in Kalyani Nagar. It’s a small joint that also serves delicious pizzas too. Coming back to the shake, it includes, milk, heaps of Nutella shake, a chocolate tart, whip cream, bourbon biscuits, chocobar all put into a giant mason jar.  Take a friend or a couple of friends unless you have a huge appetite. Nutella Fanatics, get your freak on!

Kalimeeri, Elaichi and Jaiphal are not flavours you normally associate with ice cream but Zaika Spice Cream does just that and they are pretty good at it. The flavours of the spice come through quite nicely but never overpower the actual ice cream. It’s all vegetarian and open until 11:30 pm. Stop by here to give your taste buds a shock!

If you try something new this season, let it be one of the above mentioned desserts. They are different, they are tasty and most of all, they are adventurous. No high like a sugar high, my Pune peeps.
