Running between Pune and Mumbai since 1930, our beloved Deccan Queen is all set to get a major makeover! The train holds many records in the country, including being India’s first super-fast train, the first long-distance electric-hauled train and the first to have both, a ladies-only and dining cars.
The iconic train’s coaches will be upgraded to German-designed Linke Hofmann Busch model, leading to a better traveling experience! The new coaches will be much more comfortable with a better suspension. Central Railway is also considering changing the age-old logo to a more modern one.
The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has been brought on board for professional inputs on the new design.
Mr. Shivaji Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, said, “In light of the connect that commuters have with this train, the Central Railway has also sought customer opinions on the new external livery design. Based on consultations and customer feedback, the Central Railway has prepared eight different livery designs along with their ranking as per customer votes.”
We can’t wait to experience the all-new Deccan Queen!
