Various labs across the country had applied to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for producing testing kits. City-based MyLab is the very first one to have been approved for supplying testing kits.
These will be the first made-in-India diagnostic kits. They have been made as per WHO/CDC guidelines and developed in record time (six weeks).
Minal Dakhave Bhosale, Research & Development Chief of Mylab Discovery, submitted the testing kit for evaluation just a day before she delivered her daughter. “It was an emergency, so I took this on as a challenge. I have to serve my nation,” she said to BBC.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved 122 government labs across the country, 113 already operational and 9 still in the works. It has also approved 47 labs to carry out COVID-19 tests.
This news comes as a much-needed ray of hope for the nation!
We hope you are staying at home as much as possible and taking all necessary precautions!
