Pune: Dottu, a 2-month old Beagle was allegedly stolen from Vandana Shah’s home/factory premises and she took to Twitter to complain to Zomato.
Her tweet read: “@ZomatoIN @zomatocare@Rashmibansal #doglovers help @PETA #missingdog kidnapped by Zomato delivery guy Tushar Mobile number xxxx on 7thOct from Poona at Karve Road,Deccan.”
Zomato almost instantly responded, saying, ““Hi Vandana! That’s totally not acceptable. Please help us with your contact details or the order details via DM…”
The puppy went missing on October 7 and initially, the police refused to lodge an official complaint. Finally, on October 9, after telling them that she is a lawyer, Vandana was able to lodge a complaint at Kothrud’s Alankar Police Station.
Vandana said that the premises from where Dottu was stolen had CCTV cameras. The day after he went missing, another delivery staff member recognised a picture of Dottu and said he was stolen by a fellow staff member named Tushar. Tushar had apparently shown a picture of Dottu to another staff member.
Vandana got in touch with Tushar, and while he did admit to taking the puppy, he made various excuses when asked to return Dottu. On October 10, Tushar gave them an address in Mulshi where the family headed to collect the puppy.
