Hallo, Punekars! Right before we head into chilly Pune winters, it’s first time for German Beers, more German Beers, and some lip-smacking German food! Yep, yep, it’s Oktoberfest time!
Hosted by the Indo German Chamber of Commerce (Pune Division), the Pune Oktoberfest is one of the city’s longest running and most successful events.
This three-day celebration will be held on October 26-28 at the member’s enclosure of Royal Western Indian Turf Club (RWITC). Timings, ticket booking info and prices are all mentioned at the end of the article. Before scrolling off, check out what’s in store this time around!

There will be a wide range of 10+ locally crafted beers from local breweries, while they all take successful shots at attempting their version of Oktoberfest special brews. Three of Pune’s mega breweries will serve an array of craft beers.

India’s first revolutionary microbrewery will be serving the Apfelwein (created from Apples), the traditional Oktoberfest Bier and the rhapsodic Pilsner!

Known to routine away from conventional beer and food, Effingut will bring Hefeweizen, the traditional German wheat Beer, Marzen (traditional Oktoberfest Beer) and the Dunkelweizen.

Kimaya, meaning Divine Magic, is precisely what one feels when sipping their beers! Kimaya will be serving the Vanilla Porter, Festbier (traditional Oktoberfest Beer with German malt flavors), the Belgian Wit (their signature beer), Apple Cider and the K-IPA (a juicy Kimaya pale ale).

Oktoberfest is incomplete without dishes intrinsic to the festival! One of the city’s most successful bars, Iron Bar n Grill, are taking over reins of the German culinary experience! Some of the standout dishes include:
- Thuringer Rostbratwurste (Pork) – A unique sausage from the German state of Thuringia
- Grill Bratwurst Mittelgrob – A common German pan-fried pork sausage
- Kasewurstchen – Smoked Pork sausage with Swiss and Cheddar cheese, an all-time crowd favourite
- Krakauer Wurstchen – Smoked and cured sausage with a hint of garlic
- Black Forest Roast Chicken – Chicken with a marination of Mustard, herbs and garlic
- German Potato Salad, Sauerkraut and Pretzels
International dishes comprise Peri Peri Chicken Bites, Dragon Momos, Belgian Fries with Cheese and Salsa, Onion Rings, three types of thin-crust Pizzas and a live Indian Kebab grill.
Live bands will be performing traditional German Oktoberfest music while you unwind and get your German groove on! There will also be live horseracing on Saturday and Sunday (1-5 pm). Overall, we can expect some infectious electric vibes as a wide mix of expats mingle with local Oktoberfest fans over superb beer and delectable food!
