Break a leg, Rising Pune Supergiants!

The men behind the scenes of Rising Pune Supergiants talk about the upcoming season.

IPL Season 9 is about to kick off and we caught up with the coaches of Pune’s very own new franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants. Here’s what Stephen Fleming (Coach), Hrishikesh Kanitkar (Assistant Coach) and Eric Simons (Bowling Coach) have to say:

Stephen Fleming
Stephen Fleming, Coach

Stephen Fleming: I am extremely excited to be back in Pune! It’s been a lengthy wait since our trial games in January and the Bangalore auction. We are immensely excited about the squad we have compiled and cannot wait for the opening game!
We will be training here in Pune for a week before heading to Mumbai for the opening game. Being a new franchise/team, there’s a lot of work to be done. This is a crucial week for us as the players and coaches get acquainted with each other.
Stephen Fleming has a special message for Pune’s fans…

A crucial aspect of our campaign is home support. We need Pune’s cricket lovers to come out and support Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the team. Pune is a great place to be based in and a wonderful ground to play at.
Eric Simons, on his experience with being part of a new franchise: It’s exciting as well as quite challenging. Our squad is well-balanced with many options and I’m really looking forward to working closely with all the players.
Hrishikesh Kanitkar

Hrishikesh Kanitkar: This is the first time that I am a part of the IPL and as I am from Pune, it’s very special to me to associate with Rising Pune Supergiants. We are all looking forward to a great season of fantastic support from Punekars.
Marriott International is to be the home team’s hospitality partner for IPL Season 9.
