Spreading laughter with Siddharth Jadhav

Siddharth Jadhav is not just a funny guy, he’s a terrific actor and much more. He talks to us about his upcoming movie and different facets of his life..

Siddharth Jadhav is just impossible to beat, especially when it comes to comedy. And yet he manages to wow you with serious roles too. He just finished working for a film Time Please Love story Lagnanantarchi. While Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat play the lead characters, he plays a wacky character called Himmatrao. The film is directed by Sameer Vidwans and is based on how love and life unfold after the marriage.

What is the best thing about your role?

The fact that I could accept it immediately. I loved it. I am happy that people are offering me roles, keeping me in mind. Half the battle is won with the right casting. Others could have done the role but the character is just me. Himmatrao is full of dhamaal and masti. He has a different angle to life. He is thoughtful, intelligent, well-educated and yet totally fun.

Unlike other films, you are working with a cast and crew who are almost in the same age group as you. That must have been a fun, especially while shooting.

Yes, it was. I have worked with an experienced director like Mahesh Manjrekar and with them, you just follow what they say, which is good. In this film, everyone is closer to my age and we think alike. Convincing each other to try something new in terms of character becomes easy. There is a healthy discussion about certain aspects and it helps in bring out good results. I have seen Sameer work as an assistant director in a previous film of mine. So I know him as a focused person who knows what he wants. Plus the rest of the cast are friends. So I can ask them for tips and so on.

Siddharth Jadhav-2What is your opinion on the theme of the film – love after marriage?

To be honest, love stories do unravel a lot after marriage. You have different responsibilities and thoughts about things. The issues seen in the film are quite convincing. There is no fantasy here.

Why is the comedy actor label being attached to you, despite working in all kinds of films?

But I feel good about the label. There are so many shades of comedy. People have seen me in all kinds of films. They don’t think of me as being just a comedy actor.

You are a hit on Comedy Circus. Are there any plans of doing any Marathi comedy reality shows?

I have been asked but I would like prefer doing more films in Marathi. And if I am offered anything on television, I would like to do it as Siddharth Jadhav. Thanks to Comedy Circus, people know who I am, on a national level.
