Pune, August 19, 2016: The fourth Start-up Summit of IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India), commenced today at The Westin, Pune, and it was a great success. The inaugural address was delivered by Ms. Vineeta Dixit (Public Policy and Government Relation, Google India)
Ms. Vineeta Dixit’s opening address was followed by a talk by Mr. Vivek Bhargava (CEO, iProspect) Mr Bhargava said that the start up economy in India is going to be the best in the world. The number of startups and SMEs in India are one of the largest but the challenge they face is of mentorship, learning, education, investment and initiatives such as the one taken by IAMAI will go a long way in promoting the startup ecosystem in India.
Chetan Krishnaswamy, Head Public Policy, Google India, said, “India is one of the fastest growing internet economies. And today in India, the growing demand for rich content and superior digital experience is coming from cities and towns beyond the metropolitan and tier one cities, largely led by mobile. On our part, Google has always believed that an open ecosystem is essential for this and we continually strive to enable startups to build scalable solutions to unleash the latent value that mobile hold for Indian users.”
There were nearly 200 entrepreneurs present at the occasion and were seen sharing their thoughts and views on the challenges faced by start ups and entrepreneurs. The start up Summit was done in association with Google which was undoubtedly a great experience and Google now plans to promote Internet and mobile start ups.

To shed some light on IAMAI, IAMAI is a young and vibrant association with ambitions of representing the entire gamut of digital businesses in India. It was established in 2004 by the leading online publishers, but in the last 12 years has come to effectively address the challenges facing the digital and online industry including mobile content and services, online publishing, mobile advertising, online advertising, ecommerce and mobile & digital payments among others.
Twelve years after its establishment, the association is still the only professional industry body representing the online and mobile VAS industry in India. The association is registered under the Societies Act and is a recognized charity in Maharashtra. With a membership of over 250 Indian and MNC companies, and with offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the association is well placed to work towards charting a growth path for the digital industry in India.
