According to a survey conducted by the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, Pune has been ranked number one in the ease of living Index. Navi Mumbai was given the second spot. The shocker is that New Delhi stood at number 65 in the list of the best places to live in India.
The third spot was given to Greater Mumbai, followed by Triputi, Chandigarh, Thane, Raipur, Indore, Vijaywada and Bhopal, Chandigarh being the only union territory being in the top ten.
The survey was conducted across 111 cities in the country, and was based on four factors- institutions and governance, social infrastructure (education/health), economic factors and physical infrastructure.
An initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the Ease of Living Index survey is to help cities assess their liveability in regards to global and national benchmarks, while encouraging cities to move towards a goal-based approach to urban planning and management.
