Pune’s street food is picking up pace; we only have to close our eyes and wish for a fast food item and voila, it’ll already be here in our city. With people migrating from other cities, cultures are mixing and so are cuisines!

Kacchi Dabeli- this delicious and easy on the wallet snack has been around in our city for ages. It’s not hard to see why! Now ‘dabelis’ come in three tastes – sweet, medium, and spicyyyyyy. Also, personal recommendation guys, they’re the best thing to eat when you’re drunk. What was invented in Mumbai as an accident by a sandwich stall owner has now become a massive fan favourite in India. Here are seven places in Pune you absolutely need to check out if you are a dabeli fan!

Yashwant Dabeli – JM Road

One of the most famous Dabeli spots in the city, Yashwant Dabeli is famous for their ‘Cheese Dabeli’ and ‘Special Dabeli’. Almost like a Shev-paav, their Special Dabeli is simply remarkable. Priced at Rs. 30 and 25 respectively, make sure you check them out if you’re in the locality.

Ganesh Bhel – Karve Nagar

Renowned for their bhel and shev puri, Ganesh Bhel serves another gem of a dish. Priced at Rs. 20 and 30 for normal and Cheese Dabeli, Ganesh Bhel is a good option for extremely quick and cheap food, and not just their Dabelis.

Umiya Kacchi Dabeli , Kothrud

The best ‘sweet’ kacchi dabeli in town according to me, and well, a lot of others, Umiya Kacchi Dabeli is as authentic as Kacchi Dabeli can get. Again, priced at Rs. 20 and 30, make sure to ask for their special masala peanuts.

The Urban Foundry, Balewadi High Street and Kalyani Nagar

A very unorthodox name in the list, I know, but Urban Foundry is famous for giving a classy twist to the usual street food. Their Mutton and Soya Dabeli are absolutely out of this world. For the next time you visit, their Dabelis should definitely be on your must-eat list!

Kacchi Dabeli outside Swig, SB Road

The best part about this Dabeli Wala is that he serves food until late at night. You won’t believe the amount of business this man does, I mean his dabelis are great, but it’s the location with which he has struck gold. The next time you’re chugging away at Swig, SB road, have the Kacchi Dabeli right outside. Oh, so worth it!
