According to an annual survey conducted by Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy (Bengaluru), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) tops the national ranking of brilliantly governed civic bodies (WOOT!). Other cities topping the list are Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
The city (Bengaluru) where the survey was conducted stands at one of the lowest on the list, along with Chandigarh. Go figure.
The survey included 23 cities from across the country on the basis of planning measures taken by their civic bodies in the year 2017.
In even better news, turns out PMC is the only municipal body to even have a participatory budgeting process, whereas more than half the cities don’t even have enough income to pay their own employees.
Finally, Pune and Visakhapatnam are the only cities to conduct citizen satisfaction surveys.
