We take immense pleasure to announce the http://big-balloon.nl/?option=com_jce 50th edition of The Markets by Karen Anand. What better city to do this in than Pune where it all started five years ago! The most exciting part for us is our association with them as a Digital Media Partner, Punekars!
Karen Anand started The Pune Farmers Market – the first whole foods and lifestyle market in December 2012 with a handful of loyal and devoted professionals, armed with a plateful of enthusiasm and a lot of energy. The team had no idea that it would grow the way it has. They are now in EIGHT cities in India (Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Goa, Hyderabad and Chennai) with new additions every year!
While the first market had just a few local vendors, young entrepreneurs and passionate amateur cooks looking to express themselves, they now have over 15,000 vendors registered with us from all over India. Karen Anand is proud to say that some of these vendors are now in the best supermarkets and gourmet stores in the country; others have gone national and have received venture capital funding!
The Markets attract everyone- from the local homemaker looking for healthy alternatives, HNI’s, the health conscious, discerning travellers and young people with a newfound awareness in food and drink, to chefs and restaurateurs looking for alternative sources of produce. What they all have in common is that all of them care about the quality and provenance of the food they eat.
Karen Anand is from the school of thought that believes in local over organic, so long as pesticides are not used. She has always believed that to make something truly acceptable by a large number, you have to make the product appealing. That is why our Markets not only represent the local community but are also fun filled events with cookery demos, cook offs, and kids’ workshops. We go on till late evening in most cities so that after some shopping, families can relax and unwind over a glass of wine, listen to some great live music and eat something from a local, often award-winning restaurant
We are naturally excited about this milestone and would like to make this Pune Market a special and memorable event. The venue is Royal Palms in Koregaon Park, 40,000 sq. feet of lawn and will be held over two days – 3rd and 4th February, 2018.
Look out for exciting new vendors in the categories of artisanal coffees, teas from some of the best estates in the country, artisanal cheese, natural conserves and sauces, organic honey, nuts and grains, cold pressed juice, home cooks, natural wellness and horticulture. They will also have some mouth-watering food on offer from 14 of the city’s award-winning restaurants showcasing their signature dishes. For them spiritual needs, local wineries provide us with tastings and wines by the glass. There will also be beer and cocktail bars. On the entertainment front, four live bands will perform including the regular PFM trio Chris, Mike and Sandra.
